Bachelor of Science in Radiological Imaging Techniques (BRIT)

Program:  Bachelor of Science in Radiological Imaging Techniques (BRIT)

Program Code: BRIT

Level: Graduation

Duration: 3.5 Years

Overview

This course provides knowledge of diagnosing & treating various diseases and clinical disorders with the help of image techniques such as X-rays, ultrasounds, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography etc. Diagnostic radiography is the specialization of medicine that uses the images of X-ray & other imaging techniques to diagnose the disease & injury of patients.

Programme Educational Objectives:

  • After completion of this course, BRIT graduates would be able to work as trained Medical Imaging Technologists.
  • A BRIT degree holder can work as a radiologic technologist in diagnostic imaging centers, super specialty hospitals, government and private hospitals.
  • Self-employment opportunities are also available as graduates in this field are aware and conversant with the latest sophisticated modern imaging modalities such as CT scan, MRI and PET scan.
  • Would be able to undertake mammography, CT scan and MRI procedures independently.
  • Can assist in specialized radiological procedures.
  • Ability to handle all radiological and imaging equipment independently and do the image processing.
  • Would comply with radiation protection and safety measures and participate in quality assurance procedures.
  • Would be able to integrate knowledge of clinical care, communication and ethics in a hands-on manner in a professional healthcare setting.
  • Have basic knowledge of all pre and para clinical subjects of medical sciences.
  • Have advanced knowledge of all radio imaging techniques.
  • Distinctiveness of research and audit processes and their function.
  • Can work as a diagnostic radiographer, radiation therapy educator and radiology instructor.

Program Outcomes (PO’s):

  • Perform all the diagnostic techniques
  • Use discreetly the essential laboratory services
  • Manage all types of clinical diagnostic methods
  • Demonstrate skills in handling the modern equipment in medical imaging
  • Develop leadership qualities to function effectively as a leader in the laboratory environment
  • Render services to the laboratory set up and to communicate effectively with the doctors and the hospital management.
  • To develop skill and competency in data processing, reporting and maintenance of records & Laboratory investigations.
